Automated Retention

Booqd can automatically send messages to your members based on their activity. These retention workflows help you re-engage inactive members, remind about expiring memberships, and follow up after no-shows — all without any manual effort.

Configuring Workflows

Go to Retention Settings

Navigate to your workspace settings and click Retention (available on web and mobile).

Enable workflows

Toggle each workflow on or off independently. You can enable only the ones relevant to your business.

Configure per-workflow settings

Each workflow has its own settings for channel, timing, and rate limiting (see below).

Test messages

Use the Send test button to send a test message to yourself before enabling a workflow for your members.

Each workflow type can be fine-tuned with the following parameters:

Channel Policy
Choose how messages are delivered: email, push notification, or both.

Timing Policy
When to trigger the message (e.g., 3 days before expiry, 7 days of inactivity).

Cooldown Hours
Minimum hours between consecutive messages to the same user. Prevents message fatigue.

Max Per User / 24h
Maximum number of retention messages a single user can receive in a 24-hour period.

Quiet Hours Start
Start of the quiet period — no messages sent during this window (e.g., 22:00).

Quiet Hours End
End of the quiet period (e.g., 08:00). Messages queued during quiet hours are sent after.

Set quiet hours to respect your members' downtime. Messages sent at 3 AM are more likely to be ignored or cause annoyance than messages sent during business hours.

Outcome Tracking

Booqd tracks the outcome of each retention message to help you measure effectiveness. Outcomes include membership renewal, reactivation (client books again), or churn (no action taken). This data helps you refine your messaging strategy over time.
